The Rajasthan Royals (RR) continued their winning run in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with a 29-run victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 39th match of the tournament at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
RR, who won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a challenging total of 178/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Jos Buttler was the star performer for RR, scoring a blistering 70 runs off just 47 deliveries. He was well-supported by Devdutt Padikkal (37) and Sanju Samson (30).
In reply, RCB could only manage 149/9 in their 20 overs, falling short of the target by 29 runs. Faf du Plessis top-scored for RCB with 56 runs, while Shahbaz Ahmed contributed 41 runs. RR bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets each.
With this win, RR moved up to second place in the IPL 2022 standings with six wins from eight matches. RCB, on the other hand, remained in fourth place with five wins from eight matches.
The match was a thrilling contest between two of the most evenly matched teams in the IPL. RR batsmen put up a formidable total, and their bowlers defended it successfully. RCB batsmen failed to get going, and they ultimately fell short of the target.
The victory will give RR a lot of confidence going forward in the tournament. They have now won three matches in a row and are looking like one of the favorites to win the title. RCB, on the other hand, will need to bounce back quickly and start winning matches consistently.
